AKC BERNESE MOUNTAIN DOG
STANDARD BERNEDOODLE (65-120 Pounds)
What does “Moyen” mean? A moyen is basically a Poodle term meaning a very large miniature poodle or a very small standard poodle. They are generally between about 16-20 inches at the shoulder, and about 18-35 pounds. It is the 4th size of poodle (Toy, Miniature, Moyen, Standard – some countries even have Giant), but moyen size is not yet recognized by the AKC. It IS, however, recognized in many countries outside the US. Moyen is only a description for size of Purebred Poodles, not mixes. Moyen means “medium” in French.
Personality-wise, they are spectacular. They have the more calm demeanor of a standard, in a really portable, perfect size package. Super intelligent, funny, agile, loyal, and affectionate are qualities that have been passed on in the Moyen Bernedoodle.
PIPER AND MAZARATI DUE AUGUST
F1 STANDARD BERNEDOODLE
- F1B MOYEN BERNEDOODLE
The Bernedoodle hybrid is produced by breeding a purebred Bernese Mountain Dog to a purebred Poodle. In our breeding program, we produce F1 puppies, which means that a purebred Bernese Mountain Dog is bred to a purebred Poodle. F1 puppies are less likely to have the inherent health issues of the purebred dog. To breed an F1 to an F1, produces an F2, or a 2nd generation of hybrid puppies. In F2 breeding, the chances of producing more inherited health may go up in risk, although more traditional colors and the smaller sizes are produced by breeding F2 puppies. Our goal in this breeding program is not to establish a purebred dog, but rather to produce puppies with less health issues and hopefully to have a longer lifespan while enjoying the benefits of both breeds. Traditional (black) tricolor is most rare in F1 breeding. The litters we are producing are 60% tricolor Sable and 30% Traditional Tricolor. 10% of the puppies produced are Black bi color, which means they are Black with white markings, with no tan color present. Our goal is not to produce a specific color but rather for the health and longevity of the dog.
