What is a Bernedoodle?

A Bernedoodle is a designer cross-breed of dog that has lines from the Bernese Mountain Dog and the Poodle. These two breeds are both incredible companion dogs and are intelligent, as both were created with working purposes in mind. The Bernedoodle crossbreed is designed to be an intelligent, loving, and loyal companion dog, and is designed to be a great dog for therapy.

What Size is a Bernedoodle?

Bernedoodles are generally medium- to large-sized dogs. Because Standard Poodles and Bernese Mountain Dogs are both larger breeds that can weigh in ranges from 50 to 100 pounds, a bernedoodle is also a larger dog that can grow up to 30 inches tall at the shoulder.

A bernedoodle coat will be thicker, and they can range between straight, wavy, or even curly coats, depending on how the genes of the dog present themselves. What Are The Health Concerns of a Bernedoodles?

As with all purebred dogs, there are potential health concerns to be aware of, but because these dogs are a crossbreed, there are fewer concerns to keep an eye out for. Bernedoodles may be prone to joint dysplasia, including that of the hips and elbows in particular. In addition, eye problems may arise, and they are at risk for different types of cancer. As you would with any furry family member, be sure to bring your dog to the vet regularly for checkups, testing, and regular health maintenance.
